When my kids were babies, I loved the outfits that had footie pants. Even if they were intended more for pajamas, I had some that I used as everyday outfits. It was so much easier than trying to keep socks and shoes on them. I even had one pair of pants that I got as a hand-me-down that had feet in it. I loved them! No socks & shoes to keep track of. As they got older, the one piece footie outfits weren’t convenient even as pajamas. Having a kid who’s potty training in one piece jammies just doesn’t work. It takes too much time to get them unfastened and down.
When my daughter was about four, she wanted jammies with feet. She loved the fleecy zip up jammies, but they didn’t work real well for her since she was potty-trained. Two piece jammies didn’t have the feet that she really wanted. I designed a pattern for two piece footie jammies and made them out of flannel. She loved them! She wore them every night for two winters before she wore them out (and they were getting a little short on her). She begged me to make her another pair and I obliged. At that point, I realized that there just might be a market for them and SewMona was born.
